A federal grand jury has indicted Marty Dwayne Beasley, 48, of Hackleburg, Alabama, for being a felon in possession of a firearm. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

The indictment alleges that on March 12, 2024, Beasley possessed a Jennings .22 caliber pistol. Beasley is barred from owning firearms due to previous felony convictions. These include a conviction for Sexual Abuse First Degree on November 29, 2018; Attempted Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance and Attempted Possession of a Controlled Substance on August 4, 2010; and Theft of Property on February 1, 2006—all in the Circuit Court of Franklin County, Alabama. He was also convicted of Unlawful Manufacturing a Controlled Substance on August 6, 2010, in the Circuit Court of Lauderdale County, Alabama.

The FBI and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sara M. Judah is handling the prosecution.

“An indictment contains only charges. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty,” according to the press release.
