A federal correctional officer at FCI Aliceville has been indicted on eight counts of deprivation of rights under color of law for allegedly sexually assaulting seven female inmates. The indictment, unsealed in Huntsville, Alabama, alleges that Felix Sylvester Wilder, 37, committed these acts between May 2022 and September 2024 while working as a correctional officer at the facility.

Authorities say Wilder violated the civil rights of seven women by sexually assaulting them during his shifts. If convicted on all charges, he could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby for the Northern District of Alabama, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, Special Agent in Charge Eric Fehlman from the Department of Justice Office of Inspector General (DOJ OIG) Southeast Regional Office, and Special Agent in Charge David R. Fitzgibbons from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Field Office.

The investigation was conducted by DOJ OIG Southeast Regional Office and the FBI Birmingham Field Office. Prosecutors assigned to this case are Assistant U.S. Attorneys John B. Ward and Olivia C. Brame for the Northern District of Alabama and Trial Attorney Sarah Howard from the Civil Rights Division’s Criminal Section.

“An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”
