A federal grand jury in Huntsville has indicted six individuals on immigration-related charges, as announced by U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona.
The defendants are accused of illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The individuals charged include Adalberto Guerrero-Alba, 63; Gustavo Bueno-Zamora, 59; Israel Islas-Martinez, 34; Benjamin Ulloa-Cabrera, 38; and Roxana Silva-Tejada, 38—all citizens of Mexico.
Additionally, Jose Mena-Villeda, 57, also a citizen of Mexico, faces charges for illegal reentry after deportation. He is further accused of making false statements to a federal agency and submitting false information in immigration paperwork.
These cases fall under Operation Take Back America. This initiative aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) while safeguarding communities from violent crime perpetrators. The operation coordinates efforts with the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN). Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigations related to these indictments.
It is important to note that an indictment only represents formal charges. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
