A Robertsdale, Alabama resident, Albert Emil Tillman, has been sentenced to 28 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to two counts: Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Felon in Possession of Ammunition. The sentencing took place on October 31, 2025.
Tillman, age 46, had previously been convicted for Robbery First Degree in 2000 and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance in 2009. In 2013, he was also convicted federally for Conspiracy to Manufacture Methamphetamine and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Court documents indicate that while Tillman was on supervised release from his prior federal convictions, his probation officer received information alleging he was distributing methamphetamine around Atmore, Alabama. Authorities obtained a search warrant for his motel room where they found digital scales and devices used for consuming methamphetamine. A shotgun and ammunition were also discovered. Tillman was arrested outside the motel room; additional rounds of ammunition were seized from his truck.
Following these findings, Tillman was indicted on new charges for being a felon in possession of both a firearm and ammunition.
United States District Court Judge Kristi Dubose ordered that the sentences run concurrently and imposed three years of supervised release following imprisonment. As part of the supervision conditions, Tillman will undergo testing and treatment for substance abuse and be subject to searches based on reasonable suspicion. No fine was imposed; however, $200 in special assessments must be paid. The judge also ordered forfeiture of the firearm and ammunition involved.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello announced the sentence.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gloria Bedwell prosecuted it.
This prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America—a Department of Justice initiative that focuses resources from Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN) to combat illegal immigration as well as violent crime by targeting cartels and transnational criminal organizations nationwide.
