A Guatemalan national, Maynor Tecum-Tecum, was sentenced on May 23, 2025, for illegally reentering the United States after a previous deportation. The case unfolded in Mobile County when deputies from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office stopped Tecum-Tecum for a traffic violation. Suspecting his immigration status, they contacted the United States Border Patrol (USBP), which confirmed that he had been removed from the U.S. in 2010 and convicted of illegal entry that same year.

Judge Dubose sentenced Tecum-Tecum to time served and imposed a one-year term of supervised release upon his future release. He has been in custody since February 18, 2025. Following his release from prison, he will be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings and must pay $100 in special assessments.

U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing. The investigation was conducted by the United States Border Patrol and Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Jimmy L. Thomas prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.
