A Honduran national, Rigoberto Rubi-Guevara, 38, has been sentenced to four months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after a previous deportation. The sentencing took place in Mobile, Alabama.

Court documents state that Rubi-Guevara was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office on September 12, 2025, due to a traffic violation. Deputies suspected that he was not a U.S. citizen and contacted U.S. Border Patrol agents. It was then determined that Rubi-Guevara had been removed from the country in 2011.

Chief U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Beaverstock imposed a sentence of time served and ordered Rubi-Guevara to serve one year of supervised release upon his future release from custody. He will also be referred to immigration officials for deportation proceedings and must pay $100 in special assessments.

U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello of the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentencing.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney John P. Hutchins III prosecuted the case for the United States.

According to officials, this case is part of Operation Take Back America: “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
