A man from Hope Hull, Alabama, has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for stealing firearms from a gun store in Montgomery. Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced the sentencing of 22-year-old Ethan Daniel Turner. After completing his 70-month prison term, Turner will also serve three years of supervised release. Federal sentences do not allow for parole.

Court records and Turner’s plea agreement state that the incident took place shortly after midnight on June 29, 2025. Law enforcement responded to a burglary alarm at a sporting goods store on North Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery. Officers found that the front entrance had been rammed open with a vehicle.

Two suspects were seen leaving the scene in another car, prompting a high-speed chase with police. The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped and its occupants ran away on foot. Turner was later apprehended and identified as one of those involved.

Turner pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen firearm and theft of a firearm from a federally licensed dealer. He admitted to stealing two rifles and a shotgun during the break-in.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Montgomery Police Department investigated the case. Assistant United States Attorneys Michelle R. Turner and Chelsea Wilson prosecuted.

“There is no parole in the federal system,” Davidson stated.
