A Jefferson County resident has been sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison for drug and firearm offenses, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

Wayne Carnell Brown, 74, of Birmingham, received a sentence of 130 months from U.S. District Court Judge Annemarie Axon. Brown pleaded guilty in February to charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The plea agreement states that on July 1, 2024, the Birmingham Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at Brown’s home. During the search, detectives found multiple firearms, large amounts of cash, crack cocaine, powder cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, and digital scales.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration in collaboration with the Birmingham Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison Garnett prosecuted the case.
