A federal grand jury has indicted Lekeria Antionette Toles, a 26-year-old resident of Mount Olive, Alabama, on charges related to the distribution of illegal drugs, Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby announced on Mar. 31.

The indictment alleges that Toles distributed methamphetamine and fentanyl in Jefferson County between October 2024 and January 2025. These substances are controlled under federal law due to their potential for abuse and risk to public health.

According to the announcement, this case is part of Operation Take Back America. The initiative seeks to use all resources of the Department of Justice against illegal immigration, criminal organizations such as cartels, and violent crime.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case with assistance from the Bessemer Police Special Operations Unit. Assistant United States Attorney Alan S. Kirk will prosecute.

Authorities remind that an indictment contains only charges and that defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
