A Mobile, Alabama man has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison after being found guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentencing took place in late October 2025.
Court documents show that on April 19, 2025, a deputy from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle due to an expired license plate. The driver, identified as Teague, exited the vehicle despite instructions from the deputy to remain inside. After detaining Teague, the deputy conducted a search for officer safety and discovered a firearm in Teague’s waistband. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 429 rounds of various types of ammunition. Due to his previous felony convictions, Teague is legally barred from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Teague will also serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration and must pay a $100 special assessment.
U.S. Attorney Sean P. Costello for the Southern District of Alabama announced the sentence.
The investigation was carried out by the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica S. Terrill prosecuted the case.
The prosecution was part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice that focuses on combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime by coordinating resources through programs such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
