A federal jury in Montgomery has found Jeffery Wayne Parker, 52, of Troy, Alabama, guilty of being a felon in possession of a firearm. The verdict was announced by Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson on August 12, 2025.

Court records and trial evidence show that deputies from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Parker’s residence on October 10, 2023. When officers arrived, Parker attempted to flee out the back door but complied when deputies ordered him to stop.

Law enforcement observed a handgun in a holster on Parker’s waist as they approached him. A search of his vehicle parked on the property led to the discovery of 21 more firearms in the trunk. These included 14 shotguns and rifles and seven handguns. Federal law prohibits Parker from possessing firearms or ammunition due to his previous felony convictions.

Parker now faces up to 15 years in federal prison without parole.

The case was investigated by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorneys Paul Markovits and J. Patrick Lamb prosecuted the case.

“Today’s conviction reflects our commitment to enforcing federal laws that prohibit convicted felons from possessing firearms,” said Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson. “We are grateful for the work of our law enforcement partners who helped bring this defendant to justice.”
