Treneal De’Ron Beasley, a 25-year-old resident of Pike Road, Alabama, has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for illegal possession of a machinegun. The sentencing took place on July 31, 2025. After serving his prison term, Beasley will be subject to three years of supervised release. Federal inmates are not eligible for parole.
The case began on August 17, 2024, when Montgomery Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call. The report indicated that the caller’s child’s father was trying to force entry into her home. When officers arrived and entered the residence after hearing an argument inside, they found Beasley holding a handgun and immediately detained him.
Upon further investigation, authorities discovered that the handgun had been modified with a machinegun conversion device known as a “switch.” This device enables a semi-automatic firearm to fire automatically at rates up to 20 rounds per second with one trigger pull.
Beasley pleaded guilty on March 26, 2025, to possessing the machinegun. The investigation was conducted by the Montgomery Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Assistant United States Attorney J. Patrick Lamb prosecuted the case.
“Acting United States Attorney Kevin Davidson announced today that Treneal De’Ron Beasley, 25, of Pike Road, Alabama, was sentenced on July 31, 2025, to 72 months in federal prison for illegally possessing a machinegun. In addition to his prison term, Beasley was ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his release from custody. There is no parole in the federal system.”
