Attorney General Steve Marshall has announced the arrest of three Monroe County residents on charges related to ballot harvesting and unlawful use of absentee ballots during the August 26, 2025, Frisco City municipal election.
The individuals arrested are Sarah Bennett, 60; Sharon Denson, 67; and Samantha Kyles, 46. Together, they face a total of 17 counts of ballot harvesting and 20 counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots. According to the indictment, each defendant is accused of falsifying absentee ballot applications or verification documents and collecting ballots from multiple individuals.
Unlawful use of absentee ballots is classified as a Class C felony in Alabama and carries a potential sentence ranging from one year and one day up to ten years in prison. Ballot harvesting is considered a Class A misdemeanor with a maximum penalty of one year in jail.
The Special Prosecutions Division is handling the case. Authorities have not released further details about the investigation or specific allegations at this time.
“An indictment is not a conviction, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” according to the Attorney General’s office.
