A Tuscaloosa resident has received a prison sentence for illegally possessing a firearm, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona.

Raymone Eugene Tabb, 33, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco to 22 months in prison after pleading guilty in April to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Court documents state that in June 2024, officers from the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to a trespassing report at an apartment complex. Upon arrival, they saw Tabb leaving the area. When approached by officers, Tabb fled on foot but was apprehended after a brief chase. Officers found a loaded gun in his waistband.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Tuscaloosa Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristy M. Peoples prosecuted the case.
